CUBA – HAVANA & VARADERO - OCTOBER 2012
02nd October for 10 nights
A Cuba holiday offers "something special" to other holiday destinations. This is the largest island in the Caribbean, situated 90 miles south of Florida and offers a trip like non other. To visit the real Cuba you need to have humour, patience and a healthy sense of adventure. Cuba defies logic, think psychedelic Che Guevara, murals, American Buicks and communist padres smoking chunky cigars. Alternatively you can mix this with a visit to Varadero which offers everything 5* all inclusive resorts are famous for! It is a fascinating island that is rapidly growing in popularity due to its great mix of cultural heritage as well as some of the finest beaches with miles of soft white sand and clear warm waters. Add to this the warm and friendly multi-racial people, the Cuban passion for music and dance, famous rum cocktails and balmy tropical nights and you have all the ingredients for a wonderful trip.
Cuba is a unique and very special destination, however the island’s continued economic development is not at the same level as we have in Europe and some aspects of life in Cuba are very different from what we experience here in Ireland.
3 nights in a 3 star Hotel in Havana on a bed & breakfast basis, followed by 7 nights in a 5 star Hotel in Varadero Beach on an ‘All inclusive’ basis.
Havana: is a city of vivid contrasts, from the exquisite but faded Spanish architecture, narrow cobbled streets and leafy squares, to the dramatic Revolution Square and famous mural of Che Guevara. A vibrant, modern and cosmopolitan city, where past and present mingle, Old Havana has been declared part of the heritage of mankind by UNESCO. One of the most fascinating cities in the world, Havana is the second largest city in the Caribbean, and with smiling faces greeting you at every turn, a few days stay to absorb the unique atmosphere of this city is highly recommended.
Varadero: discovered by high society back in the 1950’s, Varadero is considered by many to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Located on the Cuban peninsula of Hicacos, part of the Matanzas province, Varadero lies along 12 miles of beautiful palm-fringed powder sand beach. It is an excellent beach destination for both the most relaxed and the more energetic of travellers. Offering excellent watersports, world-class diving and many important archaeological sites nearby, Varadero has a truly distinctive character setting it apart from other Cuban resort areas, offering something for everyone.
